Props made specific to the play.
PROPS
The props that we have available are mostly hand-made props that are unique to the script. Generic items like pails, stools, baskets etc. are not included. Our props include the following:
Schoolhouse Samplers – 6 samplers of the schoolhouse pattern with hoops to be used in the Schoolhouse scene (pg. 30). These measure 13” x 13”.
Fire Hoops – 4 hoops with red, orange and gold fabric streamers used in the fire scene (pg. 53). The streamers are 4.5’ long.
Dandelions – Bright orange scraps used to represent the dandelions during the “Dandelion” song (pg. 55).
Baptism Handkerchief – Pieced and backed “handkerchief” used in the Baptism scene (pg. 26). It measures 13” x 13”. The script refers to this as a block for some reason.
Corn Cob Dolls – 2 dried and sealed corn cobs with clothes used in the “Cornelia Song” (pg. 18). The Cornelius doll is pre-dressed in a hat and kerchief. The Cornelia doll can be dressed during the song with “hair” that velcros on to the cob, “hat of dried sunflowers” that velcros to the hair, green fabric to tie around the upper cob for “from the husks I made her floppy hands”, a skirt to tie around the lower cob, and a chicken feather (not pictured). The cobs measure 7” tall. Note: the script talks about using gloves, we do not have these.
Various pieces of fabric – (of course, the following aren’t difficult to find yourself, but we had spare fabric so they are there if you want to use them.) Piece of Aunt Millie’s “Sunday-go-to-meetin’ dress” (pg. 15); pieced triangles for demonstrating “piecin’” to Janie (pg. 15); solid, dark piece of fabric (pg. 15); “sprigged muslin color of corn” used at top of show; and “piece of my wedding dress” piece used at top of show.
“20 yards of red” – which is really about 6 yards of red calico. The end of the fabric is secured around a cardboard bolt, so the fabric can be unwound during the scene (if you want) without coming all the way off of the bolt. Used in the “Robbin’ Peter to Pay Paul” scene (pg. 25)
Water strip – Blue, silky fabric used in the baptism scene (pg. 26) and the butterfly scene (pg. 27). It measures 44” wide by 20’ long.
Fire Strip – Red, silky fabric used in the fire scene (pg, 54). It measures 44” wide by 20’ long.
